Minimally Invasive Surgery

This method consists in performing gynecological surgeries through the vagina, which ensures quick recovery, less post-surgical pain, and can be applied to various problems, such as ovarian cyst, endometriosis, polypus and myoma.
The concept of minimally invasive surgery is present in the gynecology. It is the new worldwide trend. Gynecological surgery procedures can be performed via three ways: abdominal, endoscopy (laparoscopy or hysteroscopy) and vaginal. Vaginal surgery is minimally invasive and presents a series of advantages, especially concerning post-surgical recovery – usually, the woman returns to her normal activities in less time than after traditional surgery.

The advantages of minimally invasive gynecological surgery surpass the fast recovery, extending to the costs.
Minimally invasive gynecological surgeries apply to various problems, such as ovarian cysts, endometriosis, polypus and myoma. However, it is worth mentioning that not all of the procedures can be performed through the vagina – only the doctor can decide which the most appropriate procedure is.

Benefits of vaginal gynecological surgery
See some of the advantages of the minimally invasive procedure for the patients:
• Prevents abdominal incisions, most of the time.
• Lower internment period – can be only one day –, once the surgical procedure uses rachis anesthesia.
• In the case of hysterectomy (womb removal), there is minimal abdominal handling, which means less handling in the intestinal loops and lower risk of urethra lesion.
• Absence of incision-type hernia, which is a complication resulting from abdominal incision.
• Less pain in the post-surgical period.
• Generally there is a reduced need for medication in the post-surgical period.
• The patient returns to her professional activities and her normal life more rapidly.
