Obstetrics
Thomaz Gollop Clinic is characterized for being in constant update and for pursuing innovation for the benefit of its patients. In 2004, we pioneered the introduction of Minimally Invasive Cesarean Section in Brazil, also known as Misgav Ladach. This technique was initially published in 1994 in Jerusalem, Israel, by Prof. Michael Stark at Misgav Ladach Hospital. Our website visitor can access Google and type Misgav Ladach, and lots of technical publications from the entire world will appear as a result.
This technique traumatizes fewer tissues, avoiding unnecessary surgical steps. Thus, less tissues, vessels (arteries and veins) and nerves suffer lesion.
After the delivery, which is performed as easily as in the traditional method, only four layers are stitched instead of seven as in traditional cesarean. Proceeding in this way, the patient experiences less post-surgical pain, is able to move sooner and returns earlier to her normal activities.
Lots o four patients stated the advantages of minimally invasive surgery, including those who gave birth through the traditional technique before 2004.
Our concern with the education is also present in our activities. In December 2006 we conducted the I INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM OF MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY IN GYNECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS at the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, São Paulo, Brazil. In that occasion, our international guest was Prof. Michael Stark. He participated in our theoretical and practical activities, showing to the audience the advantages of his surgical technique.
Our clinic has incorporated most of Prof. Stark’s technique, changing it only in a few important details for Brazilian patients. Thus, the incision we use is smaller and lower, and we are also concerned with the aesthetic results of our surgery.
